Final ResultsSOUTH KENT, Conn. -- The Fordham men's golf team concluded the Hartford Hawks Invitational Tuesday in a tie for 12th place at the par-72 Bull's Bridge Golf Club. The Rams shot a 310 the second round Monday and a 309 in today's final round to finish with a three-round total of 920 (300-311-309), 67 strokes behind tournament champion Connecticut, who won the 20-team event with an 11-under-par 853 (279-286-288).
Sophomore
Matt Schiller, who fired a 2-under-par 70 in the opening round to tie a career low, led the Rams in the second round with a 3-over-par 75, and tied for team honors with a 5-over-par 77 in the third and final round. He finished with a 6-over-par 222 (70-75-77) to set a new career-low score for a three-round tournament.
Fellow classmate
Joseph Trim carded a pair of 5-over-par 77s in each of the final two rounds to finish with a 230 (76-77-77). Freshman
Thomas Hayes stayed consistent throughout the three rounds, shooting a 6-over-par 78 all three times to finish with a 234 (78-78-78).
Junior
Fernando Morett carded an 81 in the second round, before bouncing back with a 5-over-par 77 in the final round to finish at 234 (76-81-77) as well. Sophomore
James Mongey also competed but his scores did not count towards the team total for all three rounds, as only the top four scores count. He finished with a 248 (79-87-82).
Fordham has a quick turnaround and will travel to Quechee, Vt. to take part in Dartmouth's Quechee Club Collegiate Challenge starting Saturday, Sept. 26 and ending Sept. 27.
