Stephen Hodge and Makay Redd Named Academic All-Patriot League

Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham University graduate student linebacker Stephen Hodge and junior placekick Makay Redd were honored by the Patriot League for the second time this week as both student-athletes were named to the 2015 Academic All-Patriot League Team. Both were also named First Team All-Patriot League on Tuesday.
 
The Academic All-Patriot League Team honors student-athletes who excel both on and off the field, and has 14 student-athletes to equal one-half the size of the Football first-team All-Patriot League squad. The awards are voted on by the Patriot League's football sports information directors.
 
Hodge, the 2013 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year who is working master's degree in Applied Statistic and Decision Making, returned to form in 2015 after missing all of last season with an injury. He has amassed 109 total tackles, 61 solo, this fall, including 10.5 for loss and 2.5 sacks. He also has three interceptions, returning one for a score, three pass breakups, two quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He is third in the Patriot League and 28^th in the NCAA FCS in total tackles/game (9.9) and fourth in the league and 28th in the nation in solo tackles/game (5.5).
 
Redd, a Finance major, has connected on eight of his 12 field goal attempts on the season and 40 of his 44 PATs. He booted a 54-yard field goal, one yard shy of the school record, against Monmouth, and connected on a game-winning three-pointer with eight seconds remaining at Penn. He leads all Patriot League kickers in scoring with 64 points.
 
The #14/15 Rams will open play in the NCAA FCS Championships on Saturday, November 28, as they travel to Chattanooga, Tennessee to take on the #7/8 Chattanooga Mocs at 1:00 p.m. in a game that will be streamed on ESPN3 and broadcast on WFUV (90.7 FM) and wfuvsports.org. It is Fordham's third straight appearance in the NCAA FCS Championship.
