Fordham Football Earns Third Straight NCAA FCS Championship Berth

Rams travel to Chattanooga on Saturday

NCAA FCS Championship Bracket

Bronx, N.Y. – For the third straight year the Fordham University football Rams will spend Thanksgiving weekend on campus. But no one is upset with that as it means for the third consecutive season the Rams will be appearing in the NCAA FCS Championships as Fordham will travel to Chattanooga to face the University of Tennessee Chattanooga Mocs on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and WFUV (90.7 FM) wfuv.org and wfuvsports.org.

Fordham is one of seven schools to receive a bid to the NCAA FCS Championship in each of the past three years and the football program is the second Fordham team to earn three straight NCAA Championship bids, joining the softball program who has appeared in the NCAA Championships in each of the past three years.

Overall, the NCAA FCS championship appearance will be the fifth for Fordham, who also made the championship in 2002, 2007, 2013 and 2014.

Fordham, who finished 9-2 overall during the season, 5-1 in the Patriot League, will meet Chattanooga, winners of the Southern Conference who bring an 8-3 overall record in to the game, for the first time.

The Rams hosted first round games in each of the past two years, defeating Sacred Heart each season, to move on to the second round.

The winner of the Fordham-Chattanooga game will face top-seeded Jacksonville Sate in the second round on Dec. 5.
