Dr. George ZambettiBronx, N.Y. - Fordham University Athletics is excited to announce that
Columbia Orthopedics is the medical provider effective August 1, 2015. The medical team includes Head Team Physician, Dr. George Zambetti, and Associate Team Physician, Dr. T. Sean Lynch. Drs. Zambetti and Lynch will be responsible for coordinating the orthopedic care of Fordham's 22 varsity teams as well as their medical needs with the subspecialists at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Additionally, injury prevention and sports performance will be emphasized in conjunction with the Athletic Training staff and the Strength and Conditioning team.
Dr. George Zambetti has been Fordham's head team physician since 1981. Zambetti was an integral member of the 1970-71 Sweet Sixteen basketball team and two-time academic All-American. In his recent book, David and Goliath, Malcolm Gladwell describes Dr. Zambetti as the "indefatigable Italian kid from the Bronx" based on his on-court exploits. Dr. Zambetti was previously at St. Luke's/Roosevelt Hospital and returns to Columbia where he completed his orthopedic surgery residency and served as Chief Resident his last year of training. He is a member of the Fordham University Athletic Hall of Fame.
Dr. T Sean LynchDr. T. Sean Lynch is from Omaha, Nebraska, and the recipient of Jesuit education from high school through medical school. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at Northwestern University in Chicago and then performed an Orthopedic Sports Medicine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic where he was a fellow physician for the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers and Indians as well as serving as an Assistant Team Physician for Cleveland State University. Dr. Lynch has received several research grants and has produced numerous publications with emphasis on injuries in the National Football League as well as Athletic Hip Injuries.

"We believe that this affiliation will further strengthen our Sports Medicine team and make it the envy of the Atlantic 10 Conference and Patriot League."
ColumbiaDoctors, the faculty practice of Columbia University Medical Center, includes 1,500 physicians, surgeons, dentists, and advanced nurse practitioners, who offer more than 230 medical specialties and subspecialties.
