Final ResultsThe Fordham golf team concluded the 2014 Rhody Invitational earlier this afternoon, finishing in third place, 11 shots ahead of UMass-Lowell and Holy Cross. The tournament took place at Newport G.C. in Newport, Rhode Island
Drew Dufresne paced the way for the Rams, finishing in seventh place, 10 shots behind first place winner Joseph Leavitt of Rhode Island. Drew was the most consistent Ram, shooting a total of 228, registering rounds of 76, 75, and 77.
Jeff Hogan and Joe Trim finished in a tie for 13
th place, carding a 78 and 80, respectively, during the final round of competition.
Ben Alcorn would finish just one stroke behind teammates Hogan and Trim, which was good for a 15
th place finish. Alcorn shot sub-80 during each of his three rounds.
Matt Schiller and Oscar Cabanas found themselves in a tie for 21
st place after the final round of play. Schiller, who shot his lowest round of 76 on Monday, finished his last two rounds with scores of 82 and 80. Cabanas also played his best golf on Monday, scoring 78 and 79 during the first two rounds and finishing up with a high round of 81 on Tuesday.
Brian Engstrom wrapped up the scoring for the Rams, shooting 86-82-84 during his three rounds.
The Rams will next be in action this upcoming weekend as they will compete in the Cornell Invitational. It will take place at The Robert Trent Jones Golf Course at Cornell, September 20-21.
