Citadel Live StatsThe Fordham women's soccer team gets back to action this weekend, as the Rams look to continue their winning ways with two matches this weekend.
Fordham (4-1-0) will look for its fifth straight victory on Friday, when the Rams take the short trip up to New Rochelle for a 3:00 PM match against the Iona College Gaels (3-3-0).
The Rams won their only contest last week, posting a come-from-behind 2-1 win over LIU-Brooklyn on Friday, where
Ivana Lahcanski and
Jessica Widmann scored for the Rams. The team is looking for its first five-game win streak since 2008, when the Rams reeled off a program record six wins in a row. The only other time Fordham has won five in a row came in the 2001 season.
Iona has earned split decisions in each of the first three weeks of the season, defeating LIU-Brooklyn, Sacred Heart, and Albany, while falling to Wagner, Binghamton, and most recently Bryant. Fordham holds a 10-3-0 record against the Gaels all-time and have won nine straight decisions, eight of which were by shutout. The Rams won the meeting last year, 1-0, at Jack Coffey Field on a Widmann goal in the 26th minute.
On Sunday, Fordham hosts The Citadel in the first ever meeting between the two teams. It is the Bulldogs first-ever road trip into the New York City area, as they will also face Columbia this weekend. The Bulldogs are 3-3-0 after dropping a pair of 2-1 decisions to Richmond and North Florida. The game is set for a 12:00 PM start.
