As the calendar turns to August, Fordham student-athletes competing in the fall will soon be arriving back on campus for preseason training.
One of those student-athletes, rising women's soccer sophomore Bryce Debolt, will look to build on a solid summer of club play with the Washington Spirit Academy of the Women's National U20 Soccer League or "W-20", which won the South Atlantic Division title and made it to the championship final.
Debolt saw action in nine of ten regular season games at defender, and was a part of a backfield that allowed only six goals. In the playoff tournament, Debolt was an honorable mention selection to the All-Tournament for her stellar play on the backline.
The W-20 is the premier U-20 adult-amateur women's league in North America, providing the necessary platform for top 17- to 20-year-olds in the United States and Canada to compete at an elite level, while also serving as a reserve system for professional and senior adult-amateur women's teams.
W-20 utilizes the W-League's operational infrastructure that emphasizes quality ownership, league standards and player development to maintain itself as the leader in under-20 women's soccer in North America.
Debolt will be back on campus next week, as the Fordham women's soccer team begins training for the 2014 season. The Rams will have one home exhibition game on August 14th against Wagner and one road exhibition contest at Army on August 17th before the start of the regular season. Fordham's regular season opener is on Friday, August 22nd at Eastern Michigan.
