Golf Finishes Fifth at Rhody Invitational

Drew Dufresne and Ryan Donahue Card 74's on Sunday

The Fordham golf team recorded its best finish of the spring this weekend, claiming fifth place at the Rhody Invitational in Portsmouth, R.I.
 
Host-school Rhode Island took home the team title, while Pete Ballo of Sacred Heart earned medalist honors.
 
Junior Drew Dufresne put forth his best effort of the year at Green Valley Country Club, shaving one stroke off his score from yesterday and tying a career low to finish in a tie for sixth place.  The Chino Hills, Calif., native went 75-74, going just seven over par in two days of play.
 
Ryan Donahue, competing in the tournament as an individual, tied Dufresne's team-best effort with a 74.  Coupling his superb Sunday with an opening-round 79, Donahue finished in a tie for 14th.
 
Brandon Nolan entered the day in third place after an opening-round 73, but struggled on Sunday with an 81.  The senior from Attleboro, Mass., finished in a tie for 17th place.
 
Brian Engstrom was one shot better on Sunday, shooting a 79 to move into 26th place.
 
Junior Jeff Hogan had an uncharacteristically high score, carding an 82 to fall into a tie for 29thBen Alcorn also finished tie for 29th, compiling back-to-back rounds of 80.
 
Competing as an individual, freshman Fernando Morett shaved four strokes off his opening round 84 to climb into a tie for 39th.
