Golf Finishes Sixth at New England DI Golf Championships

Three Fordham Players Shoot 75 or Lower on Sunday

Results

While a majority of the golfing world focused on Bubba's quest for a second green jacket Sunday afternoon, three Fordham players shot rounds of 75 or better to lead the Rams to a sixth place finish at the New England Division I Golf Championships at Mohegan Sun Country Club in Baltic, Conn.

Evan Russell of Hartford shot a 66 on Sunday to lead the Hawks to the team championship, but his round of six-under only landed him a second place finish overall.  Pete Ballo of Sacred Heart went a combined nine under over two days (65-70) to capture medalist honors.

Senior Brandon Nolan registered his best finish of the spring in the Nutmeg State, complimenting his opening round 74 with a 75 on Sunday to complete the tournament in five-over par, good enough for a 13th place finish.

Juniors Jeff Hogan and Drew Dufresne each carded a two-over 74 on Sunday.  Hogan's round propelled him into a tie for 20th, while Dufresne's effort landed him in a tie for 34th overall.

Brian Engstrom went 77-78 on the weekend to finish in a tie for 29th, while Ben Alcorn shot 79-81 to move into 39th.

The Rams have only one tournament remaining between now and the A-10 Championships, the Yale Spring Invitational set for next weekend in New Haven.
