Brandon Nolan carded a two-over 74, good enough for tenth place overall, to lead Fordham on the first day of the New England Division I Golf Championships at Mohegan Sun Country Club in Baltic, Conn.
 
The Rams are in sixth place out of ten teams following 18 holes of play.
 
Brian Engstrom recorded the team's second best score, three shots behind Nolan to end the first day in a tie for 24^th place.
 
Junior Jeff Hogan turned in a 78 to finish in a tie for 27^th, while Ben Alcorn was one shot behind him with a 79.
 
Drew Dufresne, who finished tied for sixth at the Rhody Invitational last weekend, posted an 84 in the opening round.
 
The Rams will resume play at Mohegan Sun Country Club tomorrow morning.
