Softball Splits on Saturday

Rams Top Western Michigan, Fall to Chattanooga

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Game One

For the second time in as many days, Michele Daubman pitched a complete game gem to lead Fordham to a victory.

The junior from North Massapequa, N.Y., hurled a three-hit shutout, pacing Fordham to a 1-0 victory over Western Michigan at the USF Under Armor Showcase.

Daubman also helped her own cause at the plate, going 3-3 on the game and scoring a run.

A pair of freshmen topped the Rams at the plate, as Amy Van Hoven went 3-4 and Sydney Canessa went 1-3 with the game's lone RBI.

Rachel Gillen also picked up a pair of hits for Fordham.

Fordham recorded its lone run in the top of the fifth, when Canessa hit a single up the middle with two runners on, scoring Daubman from third.

Daubman allowed only one hit over the remainder of the game, sealing the victory for the Rams.

Game Two

The Rams jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the first, but Chattanooga scored the last nine, topping the Rams 10-3 on Saturday evening.

After the Mocs plated one in the top of the first, Brianna Turgeon smacked a three-run triple to center, giving the Rams a two-run advantage after one.  Turgeon led the Rams with two hits on the game.

But the Mocs answered right back with three runs in top of the second to take back the lead.

The Rams remained close until late in the game, when the Mocs scored six runs in the sixth and seventh innings to put the game out of reach.
