Fordham University sophomore Steve Sholdra (Renton, Wash./H.B. Education (Wash.)) continue to rack up postseason accolades as he was named a 2013 Long Distance All-American by U.S. Masters Swimming.

Sholdra earned the honors by placing first at the U.S. Masters Swimming 2.4 Mile Open Water National Championships that took place at Dana Point, California, back on August 4, 2013.  He won the overall event in a time of 51:45.25.

He has also qualified for and will compete in this year's U.S. Open Water Nationals, which will take place on June 13th at Castiac Lake in California.  Last year, Sholdra placed 15th overall in the 5K event and 17th in the 10K.

Sholdra's recognition comes just after being named to the 2014 Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference for men's swimming and diving. It was the 13th time over the past 14 years that Fordham had at least one student-athlete named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team

Sholdra, an International Political Economy major with a 3.63 GPA major, finished fifth in the 1650-yd freestyle at the 2014 Atlantic 10 Championship. He also scored in the 500 freestyle (seventh) and 400 IM (tenth) at the Championship, and was a member of the 800 freestyle relay that placed seventh.

On the season, Sholdra recorded Fordham's fastest 500 and 1000 freestyle time in 2013-2014.
