Game One
Â
A big third inning and a shutdown pitching performance from
Lauren Quense propelled the Rams to their second consecutive victory on Sunday morning, as Fordham downed Syracuse 2-1 at the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic in Orlando, Fla.
Â
Quense picked up her second win of the year on Sunday, allowing only three hits and nabbing her third complete game of the season. In eight appearances this season, Quense has accumulated an impressive 1.46 ERA.Â
Â
The Rams threatened in the first and second innings, picking up hits in each frame but failing to plate a run.Â
Â
In the bottom of the second, Corinne Ozanne led off the frame with a solo shot to left center, giving the Orange an early 1-0 lead.
Â
Sydney Canessa started off the third inning with a single up the middle before
Amy Van Hoven walked to give the Rams two runners on with no outs. A passed ball pushed the runners up a bag, and a
Kayla Lombardo ground out gave the Rams their first run of the game. One batter later, a wild pitch scored Van Hoven from third, putting the Rams ahead 2-1.
Â
From there, Quense was virtually unhittable, allowing the Rams to come out with the win.
Â
Game Two
Â
After picking up a win in their first game of the day, the Rams didn't fare as well in game number two, losing to Bradley 16-4.
Â
Lauren Quense had another standout game for the Rams, driving in three of Fordham's four runs on the afternoon.Â
Â
Brianna Turgeon also drove in a run for Fordham.
Â
Neither team scored in the first inning, but Bradley exploded in the top of the second, plating ten runs on 11 hits.
Â
The Rams responded with a run in the bottom of the frame, but Bradley added five more runs in the top of the third.
Â
Quense trimmed the deficit with a three-run double in the fourth, but Bradley added one more in the fifth to take a 16-4 lead.
