ResultsThe Fordham swimming & diving team had their second meet in as many days on Friday, as the Rams traveled up to Fairfield for a meet with the Stags. The Rams came out ahead on both ends of the meet post a 180-115 win on the women's side and a 171-118 victory in the men's competition.
The Fordham women posted 12 wins in the swimming events in Fairfield's short course meters pool.
Junior
Megan Gray led the way as she won the 200 SCM butterfly event in 2:29.12, while being a part of two winning relay teams. First, she was a part of the 200 SCM medley relay with
Morgan Fairclough,
Kelly Carroll, and
Megan Polaha, which won in 2:01.69, and later was a member of the 200 SCM freestyle relay with
Maureen McKenna,
Chandler Lulley, and
Shannon Lulley that won in 1:51.24.
Shannon Lulley, Fairclough, and Polaha would also post one individual event win as well. Lulley won the 100 SCM breaststroke in 1:18.25, Fairclough took the 100 SCM frreestyle in 1:01.55, and Polaha won the 400 SCM individual medley in 5:01.48.

Kalena Laurent (800 SCM freestyle – 9:22.66),
Theresa Goehring (100 SCM backstroke – 1:07.39),
Erin McBride (50 SCM freestyle – 27.65),
Julia Day (200 SCM backstroke – 2:24.59),
Anna Marshall (200 SCM breaststroke – 2:48.49), and
Natalie Malicki (400 SCM freestyle – 4:38.43).
Joe MercurioOn the men's side, the Rams captured 11 swimming event wins on the short course meters pool.
Fordham was led by sophomore
Joe Mercurio and junior
Thomas Shetler, who each won an individual event, while being a part of both winning relays. First, the duo joined
J.T. Klimko and
John Furlong to win the 200 SCM medley relay in 1:50.14. Later in the meet, Mercurio and Shetler along with
Liam Semple and Patrick Milliti won the 200 SCM freestyle relay in 1:38.56.
In addition to the relay win, Semple added individual wins in the 400 (4:12.14) and 800 (8:40.31) SCM freestyle events, while Klimko won the 200 SCM freestyle in 2:01.19 with Furlong taking the 100 SCM breaststroke in 1:10.61.
Other event winners included
Zachary Jacobsen (100 SCM backstroke – 1:02.45),
Thomas Gillespie (100 SCM freestyle – 54.82), and
Steve Sholdra (200 SCM backstroke – 2:12.80).
The Rams wrap up a busy opening weekend with one more meet on Saturday, October 25
th, as Fordham hosts Connecticut at 1:00 PM at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center.
