(October 15, 2014) – The Fordham University football program, along with the entire campus community, is mourning the loss of two former football student-athletes, Aki Jones, GSB '08, and Anthony Amanzio, GSB '03, who both passed away recently in Florida.
Â
A moment of silence will be observed at the next Fordham home football game (November 1 vs. Colgate) to honor their memories and contributions to the program.

Jones, a native of Queens, was a four-year letterman and two-year starter with the Rams from 2001-04, helping the 2002 team to the school's first ever Patriot League title. Following graduation, Jones played for one year with the Washington Redskins (2005) and then went on to play in Europe, spending five years in Poland, playing for Crew from Wroclaw and the Worsaw Eagles, where he not only had an impact on the field, but also off, helping to spread the sport of football throughout Europe. He finished his playing career with two years in Sweden and another in Finland (2013), continuing to introduce the sport to a new and eager audience. Most of his teammates and coaches would comment on Jones' enthusiasm and love of the game that he passed on to the local youth teams.

Jones, who also worked as an analyst on BBC telecasts of NFL games, returned from Europe recently and had taken a position with the Miami Dolphins.
