Golf Sits in Fifth Place at the Temple Invitational

Alcorn tied for 8th place

Following one day of play at the Temple Invitational at Philmont Country Club in Huntingdon Valley, Pa., the Fordham University golf team sits in 5th place out of 14 teams.
 
Temple grabbed the top spot following the opening 18 holes, led by Brandon Matthews, who carded a 69, which is good for a share of second place.  Matthews sits one shot behind J.T. Harper of Seton Hall as they head into the final round of play on Sunday.
 
Ben Alcorn paced the way for Fordham, posting a one-over 71 to place him in a tie for 8th with Cole Berman of Georgetown.
 
Andrew Dufresne sits six shots behind the leader, as the upperclassmen shot 74 on the par 70 track.
 
Matt Schiller sits in a tie for 23rd after firing a first round score of 75, which left him five over par on the day.
 
Jeff Hogan recorded an opening round 76, which was good for a share of 35th place, while Oscar Cabanas shot 81 to round out the first round efforts of the Fordham competitors.
 
The Rams have one more round remaining at the Temple Invitational on Sunday.
