Golf Tied for 15th After Round One at Adams Cup

Brandon Nolan and Jeff Hogan Pace the Rams with Six-Over 78's

Round One Results

Following one round of play at the 20th Annual Adams Cup at the Newport National Club in Newport, R.I., the Fordham Rams sit in a tie for 15th place with UMass-Lowell.

UCF leads a loaded field of 16 through round one, posting an incredible 15 under par as a squad.  The Golden Knights lead second place Bethune-Cookman by a whopping 26 strokes.

Greg Eason of UCF carded the best individual score of the round with a six-under 66.  All four Golden Knights who scored were at least two under par on the round.

Unfortunately for the Rams' scoring chances, their best round of the morning came from a player who entered the tournament as an individual.  Junior Brian Engstrom tallied a four-over 76, launching him into a tie for 25th.

Captains Jeff Hogan and Brandon Nolan paced the Rams with six-over 78's, putting them in a tie for 42nd place heading into round two.

Freshman Fernando Morett, who tied for the second-best finish on the team last week in Hamilton, N.Y., posted a seven-over 79, good enough for a 48th place tie.

Ben Alcorn recorded the final scoring round for the Rams, shooting an 82 to place him in a tie for 73rd.

Ryan Donahue rounded out the five-man squad with an 84.

The Rams will play in the final day of the Adams Cup tomorrow.
