Box Score
Looking to shake off Friday night's overtime loss, the Fordham women's soccer team traveled to Queens for a match-up with the St. John's Red Storm on Sunday at Belson Stadium. St. John's Rachel Daly had other ideas as she netted a natural hat trick in the first half, as the Red Storm topped the Rams, 5-0.
The loss puts Fordham at 0-2, while St. John's improved to 2-0.
Daly got St. John's on the scoreboard quickly just 3:33 into the game, as she scored to the short corner off a cross from Amy Marron. Daly would score twice more in the first 21 minutes of the game to increase the lead to 3-0.
Hailey Hemmer added the Red Storm's fourth goal in the 26th minute off a rebound off the cross bar, while the scoring was capped in the 42nd minute, as off a corner kick, the ball deflected off a Fordham defender and into the net for an own goal.
The Rams played scoreless ball in the second half, as Fordham held off the Red Storm attack with goalkeeper Megan Fitzgerald making four saves.
The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Sunday, September 1st, as the Rams conclude a three-game road trip at Rutgers, beginning at 1:00 PM.
