The Fordham swimming & diving teams had their final meet before winter break on Wednesday, as the Rams hosted the Manhattan College Jaspers. Fordham fans would go home happy, as the Rams swept the meet form the Jaspers, 155-90 in the women's competition and 156-116 on the men's side.
The Rams opened the night with wins in the 200 medley relay and then closed out the night with wins in the 200 freestyle relay. In the 200 medley relay, Aurelia O'Keefe, Shannon Lulley, Kalena Laurent, and Megan Gray won in a time of 1:52.79, while the group of
Shintaro Noguchi,
Ben Dwyer,
Patrick Militti, and
Thomas Shetler won in a time of 1:37.49. Later, the 200 freestyle relay team of Maureen McKenna, Megan Zarriello, Morgan Fairclough, and Chandler Lulley took first in 1:41.49, while Militti, Shetler,
Christopher Daniell, and Noguchi won in 1:26.48.
Individually, four Rams won multiple events on the night. On the women's side, only Natalie Malicki won two events, as she took home the 200 freestyle in 1:59.55 and the 500 freestyle in 5:2.63. In the men's competition,
Kevin Kosciuk, Noguchi, and
Steve Sholdra each won two events. Kosciuk captured the 200 freestyle in 1:47.96 and the 500 freestyle in 4:56.10, while Noguchi won both the 50 (24.73) and 100 (52.75) backstroke events. Sholdra took first in the 100 butterfly (52.06) and 100 freestyle (48.21).
Other men's winners were
Michael Grimmett-Norris in the 50 freestyle (22.29),
Kevin Jimenez-Cowell in the three-meter dive (216.30) and
Hanul Moon in the one-meter dive (269.10).
In addition to Malicki for the women, 11 other Rams won an individual event. Chandler Lulley (50 – 28.83) and Zarriello (100 – 1:02.09) won the backstroke events, while Megan Polaha (50 – 32.43) and Kara Field (100 – 1:10.96) took home the breaststroke events. In the butterfly, it was Miranda Morton (50 – 27.17) and Jordan Tomimatsu (100 – 1:00.65) placing first with Kalena Laurent (50 – 24.95) and Spencer Chappell (100 – 54.54) winning the sprint freestyle events. The 100 individual medley winner was Shannon Lulley in 1:01.48 with Hailey Cox (1M – 224.18) and Claire Parker (3M – 242.55) winning the diving competitions.
The Rams are now off for winter break and will next be in action on January 17
th at Iona.
