Branden Frazier has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Men's Basketball Player of the Week and VCU freshman Jordan Burgess earned the league's Rookie of the Week award. Both awards were announced
Monday for games played Dec. 9-15.
Frazier averaged 21 points in leading Fordham to a pair of wins last week. He opened the week by scoring a game-high 27 points in a 77-63 win at Colgate on Tuesday, shooting 8-for-16 from the field, including 2-for-5 from long distance and he scored nine points from the free throw stripe while also five rebounds and three steals. Frazier followed that with 15 points in a home win over Howard on Saturday, again hitting 50 percent from the field (6-for-12) and 42.9 percent (3-for-7) from beyond the arc. He had six rebounds and six assists in the win.
On the year, Frazier is averaging an Atlantic 10-best 18.7 ppg while also leading the conference in free throw shooting percentage (87.9%) and ranking fifth in assists.
The Rams return to action next Saturday, December 21, as they travel to West Long Branch, N.J., to face the Monmouth University Hawks at 2:00 p.m.
