BRONX, N.Y. – Fordham Men's Basketball Head Coach Mike Magpayo has announced the signing of graduate student Marcus Greene to his roster for the 2025-26 season.
"Marcus will be an elder statesman on this year's squad who brings proven scoring ability," said Magpayo. "Marcus will be hugely important in establishing our culture in this new era of Fordham Basketball as he arrives from a well-coached and disciplined program."
Greene, a 6-foot-2 guard from Gilroy, Calif., arrives in the Bronx following a year at the University of Hawaii alongside future Fordham teammate Akira Jacobs. Greene played in all 31 games for the Rainbow Warriors, making eight starts and averaging 7.3 points in 20.5 minutes of action. He reached double figures on 11 occasions, highlighted by a season-high 22 points against Charlotte on Dec. 22 in the opening game of the Diamond Head Classic. That performance capped a four-game stretch during which Greene averaged 17.8 points on 46.4% shooting. On the season, Greene shot 39.4% from the floor, including 30.2% clip from beyond the arc. Greene also ranked third on the team in total assists with 49.
Prior to his time in Honolulu, Greene spent the 2023-24 season at Houston Christian, where he ranked second on the team with 15.1 points per game. Greene proved incredibly efficient for the Huskies, shooting 45.1% from the floor and a blistering 42.7% from three-point range on more than five attempts per outing. He reached double figures 23 times in 28 opportunities with five outings of 20-plus points, including a season-best 30 points against Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Feb. 24. Greene also led the team in assists (3.0 apg) and shot 78.6% from the charity stripe.
Greene played his sophomore season at Panola College in Carthage, Texas, leading the Ponies to a 28-5 record and an appearance in the championship game of the NJCAA Region XIV Tournament. Greene, who ranked third on the team in scoring at 11.7 points per game, played alongside future Fordham teammate Christian Henry that season.
Greene began his collegiate career in 2021-22 at Sacramento State, where he appeared in 19 games and averaged 2.0 points and 1.1 rebounds per contest.
Before college, Greene spent a year at Scotland Campus Prep in 2020-21 after graduating from San Jose's Archbishop Mitty, where he was a two-time First Team All-West Catholic Athletic League selection. On the grassroots circuit, Greene played for Team Arsenal in Oakland.
