Golf Ties for 11th at Macdonald Cup

After more than a week off since their last outing, the Fordham golf team competed in the Macdonald Cup this weekend held at the Yale Golf Course.  The Rams finished tied for 11th out of 14 teams.
 
The University of Illinois took home the team title, logging an incredible three rounds of play over Saturday and Sunday.  The Fighting Illini posted a team score of 33 under par, 25 shots better than second-place Yale.
 
For the Rams, Jeff Hogan led the way in New Haven.  The Watertown, Conn., native put forth a six-over par effort for three rounds, including an even-par 70 on the opening 18.  For the weekend, Hogan led the field with 43 pars.  Hogan tied for 24th overall.
 
Brandon Nolan also had a solid weekend for the Rams, sandwiching a 72 with a pair of 75's to finish at 12 over par.   He tied for 41st.
 
Ben Alcorn, who matched Hogan's opening round by equaling par, finished one shot behind Nolan at 13 over.  Alcorn posted a 78-75 to close out the weekend.
 
Senior Ryan Donahue started off the weekend strong with an opening-round 72 and followed that up with a 76 on his second 18.  He carded an 80 in the final round to finish at 18 over in a tie for 59th.
 
Brian Engstrom completed all three of his rounds below 80, shooting 78-79-77 to finish tied for 68th.
 
Fernando Morett, competing in the tournament as individual, was very consistent.  The Monterrey, Mexico, product went 75-76-75 to complete the weekend in a tie for 56th.
