Nolan's Strong First Round Leads Fordham

Rams Tied for Ninth after Day One at Barnabas Health Intercollegiate

Round One Results

High winds may have hurt scoring for most of the field at the first day of the Barnabas Health Intercollegiate, but senior Brandon Nolan appeared to feel none of the adverse effects.

The Attleboro, Mass., native carded his best round of the year at Fiddler's Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, N.J., shooting a one-under 71 in the tournament's opening round to launch himself into a tie for fifth place, two shots off the lead.  Nolan turned in Sunday's most consistent performance, equaling Old Man Par fifteen times with two birdies and only one square on his card.

As a squad, the Rams sit in a tie for ninth place out of 15 teams, tallying a 20 over par (308) cumulative score.

Temple leads the field after the first round of play, shooting a one-under 287.  Three Owls turned in sub-par performances Sunday afternoon.

Jeff Hogan, the team's leading scorer this season, shot a five-over 77 to place himself in a tie for 31st.

Junior Ben Alcorn turned in a 79 on Sunday afternoon, entering Monday's final round in a tie for 44th.

Brian Engstrom rounded out Fordham's scorers, posting an 81, while freshmen Fernando Morett shot an 83.
