Final Results
The Fordham University rowing squad competed at the 2013 Head of the Housatonic on the Housatonic River in Shelton, Conn.
on Saturday with the novice 4, novice 8 and varsity 4 all winning medals. It marked the first time the Rams have ever medaled in a women's varsity event at the regatta.
The varsity 4 won the bronze medal, behind two Yale shells but six seconds up on A-10 rival U Mass which finished fifth. The Rams also had a second and third shell in the varsity 4 which placed ninth and twelfth of fifteen entries.
The novice 8 took home silver, placing second behind Northeastern. The Huskies won the race in a time of
16:30.9, followed by Fordham (
17:21.6), Massachusetts (
17:30.8) and Williams (
17:38.6). There were five other teams in this event.
The frosh/novice 4 won gold medals beating Schenectady County by just over two seconds, covering the course in a time of
20:40.3.
In the varsity 8, the Rams entry placed tenth in
16:20.3, just 1.7 seconds behind Massachusetts A. The Fordham B and C entries finished eighteenth and twenty-second.
The Rams will return to action
on Saturday and Sunday, October 19 and 20, as they compete in the Head of the Charles in Boston.
