Following one day of play at the Temple Invitational at Philmont Country Club in Huntingdon Valley, Pa., the Fordham University golf team sits in 16
th place out of 17 teams.
Hartford grabbed the top spot following the opening 18 holes, led by Evan Russell, who carded an amazing eight-under 62 to top the field. Russell carries a five-shot lead into Sunday.
Brandon Nolan paced the way for Fordham, posting a five-over 77 to place him in a tie for 57
th.
Jeff Hogan and
Ryan Donahue sit one shot behind Nolan, as the two upperclassmen each shot 78 on the par 70 track.
Ben Alcorn recorded an opening round 81 and
Brian Engstrom shot 85 to round out the first round efforts of the Fordham competitors.
The Rams have one more round remaining at the Temple Invitational on Sunday.
