Women’s Soccer Draws at Stonehill

Liv Johnsen accounts for Ram tally

Easton, Mass. – Sometimes a deflection can be a good thing such as the bending or deviation of light, electron beams, or charged particles by magnetic fields. Other times it can be detrimental as discovered today by the Fordham women's soccer squad who saw a deflected ball go into its own net to tie the game at one which proved to be the final score between the Rams and Stonehill College at Skyhawk Field.

With the tie, Fordham is now 2-2-1 on the season, while Stonehill goes to 0-3-4.

THE GAME
  • The match was scoreless at halftime, with Fordham outshooting the Skyhawks, 9-4, with three of those shots on net, forcing Stonehill keeper Jenna Hamel to record three saves.
  • Four of the Skyhawks' first half shots were also on net as Fordham keeper Addison Green also recorded three saves over the first 45 minutes.
  • The tie was snapped in the 53rd minute when Fordham's Liv Johnsen took a feed from Renata Mercedes and beat Hammel to put the Rams up 1-0.
  • The lead held until the 67th minute when the Rams deflected a ball into goal for a Stonehill score.
