Stony Brook, N.Y. – The Fordham cross country squads opened the season at the Stony Brook Season Opener on Saturday. The men took second while the women placed third.

MEN'S RACE
- Senior Sean Reidy paced the Rams with a third place finish, covering the 6K course in 19:30.8, 9.5 seconds behind the winner.
- Right behind Reidy were senior Bradford Duchesne and sophomore Jimmy Hernandez, who finished fourth (19:32.3) and fifth (19:32.3), respectively.
- Other Fordham scorers included freshman Aidan Urquiola (8th - 19:47.1) and junior Lucas Rohde (15th - 20:14.0).
- The Rams finished second with 35 points, just behind event winers, Stony Brook (28), but ahead of Quinnipiac (85) and Sacred Heart (94).
WOMEN'S RACE
- Grad student Aly Negovetich shined in her Fordham debut, as she was the first Fordham finisher, covering the 4K course in a time of 14:30.6, just 2.7 seconds behind the winner.
- Negovetich was followed by senior Meredith Gotzman who placed sixth in 14:39.7.
- Other Fordham scorers included Sarah Zahaykevich (17th - 15:21.3), Sofie Viscon (21st - 15:36.4), Grace Kenny (23rd - 15:50.9).
- Other Fordham finishers included junior Ciara McGroary (27th - 16:50.5) and junior Marisa House (28th - 17:05.2).
- The women placed third with 70 points, behind Quinnipiac (31) and Stony Brook (56) but ahead of Sacred Heart (71).

The Rams will return to action on Saturday, September 19, as they compete at the Jasper Fall XC Invite in Montgomery, N.Y at Twin Ponds on the Farm.
