BRONX, N.Y. – The Fordham men' soccer team returned to campus this week and have started practicing for the 2026 season which kickoffs on Thursday, August 20.
 
The Rams open the season with a trip west to face two fellow Jesuits, Gonzaga on August 20 and Santa Clara on August 23. Fordham opens it home schedule on September 9 when the Rams host Columbia at Moglia Stadium.
 
2026 Alumni Day is slated for Sunday, October 11 when Fordham hosts Rhode Island at 5:00 p.m. The 1996 Atlantic 10 championship team will be honored on the 30^th year of their title run. To register for Alumni Day use the links above.
 
Head coach Carlo Acquista welcomed the team to campus as he attempts to fill holes left by graduation. His biggest concern will be on offense as Fordham lost its top six scorers from last year, including the 2025 Atlantic 10 Offensive Player and Midfielder of the year, Daniel D'Ippolito.
 
Goal scorers who return for 2026 include senior Elias Betancourt, who netted two goals and added an assist for five points last year, along with sophomore Nicholas Di Sessa, who appeared in 12 games as a freshman, making one start, tallying one goal and adding one assist for three points.
 
The Rams will add numerous newcomers to the 2026 roster who have goal scoring experience, including freshman Marc-Alexandre Happi Emaga, a Quebec native who was RSEQ's Player of the Year for Men's D1 Soccer with the Vanier College Cheetahs, freshman Rayane Tchemmoun, a transfer from Marshall University, sophomore Bruno Cellerino, who was named to the American Conference All-Freshman Team at Missouri State last year, freshman Arata Mizuno, who arrives at Fordham after a successful youth career in Spain, and grad student Sam Delgado, a transfer from William & Mary where he started all 16 matches last year.
 
Other forwards who will look for playing time in 2026 include junior Ryan Mattison, who appeared in four games as a sophomore, and freshman Gavin Flickinger, who set Nevada state records for goals in a season and goals in a career.
 
At midfield Fordham returns senior Maclin Stover, junior Fabio Sebastian Sanchez, who appeared in three games last fall, along with sophomores Niko Kolega and Nick Mesquita, who appeared in two games last year. Newcomers at midfield include freshmen Joel Goncalves, who played for BW Gottschee (MLS Next), Nico Linares, who was a member of Leganés B, the reserve team of CD Leganés, Edu Ramirez, a product or Doral Academy Prep in Doral, Florida, and Marco Cantalapiedra, who played with Weston FC (MLS Next) in 2025.
 
The backline will be anchored by senior captain Kamran Mojabi, who saw action in 15 matches as a sophomore, making seven starts. He will be joined five returning players: seniors Niko Cappellini, Christian Pica, juniors Luca Giannola, who saw action in three matches last fall, and Cosimo Tristani, who appeared in six matches in 2025, along with sophomore Joseph Maimone.
 
Newcomers at defense include grad student Jason Hsu, who made his international debut for the Chinese Taipei National this summer, sophomore Leevi Swearengen and freshmen Arne Michaelis, who played with Borussia Moenchengladbach for five years from U16-U23, Mirko Lekovic, who played for FK Usce in Prva Liga Srbije (2nd div in Serbia), and Daniel Gaviria, a teammate of Cantalapiedra with Weston FC (MLS Next) in 2025.
 
The lone returning keeper from 2025 is senior Leo Perelman. He will be joined by grad student Edoardo Grandi, who played two seasons in the Academy of Bologna FC who compete in Serie A, and junior Shayon Kashi, a transfer from Penn State Harrisburg where he played for two seasons, in the battle for the starting spot.
