Hempstead, N.Y. – (August 27, 2026) – Fordham's Juia Acosta netted the lone goal on Thursday night, as the Fordham Rams shut out the Hofstra Pride, 1-0, at Captains Field.
With the win, Fordham is now 2-2 on the season, while Hofstra fell to 0-2-1.
THE GAME
- The match was scoreless at halftime, with Fordham registering the only two shots on goal in the period, forcing two saves by Hofstra goalkeeper Lily Bailey.
- The deadlock was snapped in the 60th minute by the Rams, as Salma Simonin found her way down the near side of the field. She crossed the ball toward the front of the goal, where Julia Acosta deflected the ball in from 10 yards out for the 1-0 lead.
- Addison Green was called upon once in the final 30 minutes to keep the Pride at bay, as she made a diving save to the top left corner of the net on a shot from Hailey Moschitta in the 70th minute.
GAME NOTES
- The win marked Fordham's first ever win at Hofstra, having lost the first 10 road matches in Hempstead.
- Addison Green recorded two saves for her sixth career shutout.
- For Acosta, it was her first goal of the season and the 14th of her career.
- Simonin now has two assists on the young season.
