Women’s Soccer Posts 2-1 Win Over Marist

Liv Johnsen & Ava Giudice Net Goals for Fordham

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – (August 23, 2026) – After severe thunderstorms caused a postponement of Thursday's match for Fordham, Sunday was a picture perfect day for the Rams with sunny skies shining down on a 2-1 victory over the Marist Red Foxes at Tenney Stadium.
 
THE GAME
  • The first goal of the contest came early in the fourth minute. Marist got out in transition with Ella Bryan crossing a ball from the far side to Marissa Foster in front for the deflection goal and a 1-0 lead.
  • The score stayed that way into the 58th minute, when Fordham found the equalizer.Salma Simonin played a long ball to Liv Johnsen on the near side, who cut toward goal and scored on a sharp angle for her first goal as a Ram.
  • Fordham then went on top, 2-1, in the 83rd minute as Annie Maguire drew a foul for a free kick just outside the box.Ava Giudice took the free kick and lined a shot over the wall and into the back of the net for her first of the season.
  • The Rams made that goal hold up, as Marist did not have a shot at goal for the remainder of the match.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Addison Green recorded four saves for the win in net.
  • The goal by Johnsen was her first collegiate goal, as she did not score in 18 games at Buffalo last season.
  • For Giudice, it was her fifth career goal for Fordham after netting four in 2025.
  • The Rams improved to 5-2 all-time against Marist.
  • Fordham is next in action on Thursday, August 27th, for a road contest at Hofstra, starting at 7:00 PM.
