BRONX – Fordham freshman Valerija Kargina was named the Under Armour Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week it was announced today. It is the third weekly award this year for Kargina.
 
In the lone match on the week, Kargina defeated Rhode Island's Sophie Herrman in straight sets at third singles, 6-1, 6-1. She also teamed with Lily Chitambar to win at second doubles over Anastasia Pettersson and Grace Darcy, 7-5, clinching the doubles point for Fordham.
 
The top-seeded Rams will open play at the 2026 Atlantic 10 Championship on Thursday against the winner of #8 Dayton and #9 Duquesne at 3:30 p.m. at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
