Bronx, N.Y. – (March 31, 2026) – The Fordham baseball team wrapped up its nine-game homestand on positive note with a 9-8 win over the Columbia Lions on Tuesday afternoon at Houlihan Park.
With the win, Fordham moved to 13-14 overall, while Columbia fell to 5-16.
THE GAME
- Columbia opened with a 2-0 lead, scoring single runs in the third and fourth innings on a pair of ground balls.
- Fordham then grabbed a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, as Joey Donnelly connected on a two-run home run to center, his fourth of the season to tie the game, while Matt Dieguez put the Rams on top with an RBI-single.
- The Rams added to the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, when Caden Young drilled a two-run home run to center, his first of the year for a 5-2 lead.
- The teams exchanged three runs in the seventh and one in the eighth, putting the score at 9-6 in favor of Fordham.
- The Lions gave the comeback a run with a pair of solo home runs to pull within a 9-8 score, but Fordham's Aric Berg was able to close out the win for his fourth save of the year.
GAME NOTES
- Robbie Stewart improved to 5-1 on the year, throwing two innings of one-hit relief.
- Caden Chavez made his first career start, pitching two scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
- Donnelly finished 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, and three RBI, while Young was also 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.
