West Point, N.Y. – The Fordham women's tennis team got back on the winning side today with a 6-1 victory over Hofstra University at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center at Army West Point.
 
The Rams opened play by winning the doubles point, taking both completed doubles matches.  Nevena Kolarevic and Julianne Nguyen took first doubles from Aida Oviedo and Aryanah Kahnamoui, 6-3, while Valerija Kargina and Lily Chitambar teamed up to win at second doubles over Sabira Mohamed and Isabella Cardinal, 6-1.
 
Fordham then won five of the six singles matches, all in straight sets, for the 6-1 win. Paola Dalmonico took care of first singles, defeating Mohamed, 6-1, 6-4, while Kargina knocked off Oviedo at the second position, 6-2, 6-1. Catalina Padilla picked up a point for the Rams at fourth singles with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout over Ava Veneziano, and Chitambar was victorious at fifth singles, taking a 6-3, 6-1 decision from Katarina Drinchich. Julianne Nguyen rounded out things for the Rams with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Isabella Cardinal at sixth singles.
