Baseball Heads to Davidson to Start A-10 Play

Rams Look to Keep Winning Ways Rolling Against Wildcats

Bronx, N.Y. – (March 12, 2026) – Winners in four of its last five games, the Fordham baseball team (6-9) opens Atlantic 10 play on the road, as the Rams head to Davidson for a three-game series, starting on Friday.
 
The Rams are coming off a series win last weekend against Cornell, while posting back-to-back mid-week wins over Iona and Rutgers this week.

SERIES HISTORY
  • Fordham and Davidson have played 15 times since the Wildcats joined the Atlantic 10 with the series being pretty even with eight wins by Davidson and seven for Fordham.Last season, the Wildcats got the better of the Rams, sweeping a three-game series at Houlihan Park.
FORDHAM NEWS & NOTES
  • The Rams are 4-1 in their last five games, outscoring their opponents, 46-25.
  • Tommy McAndrews has been the hot bat in that stretch, batting .421 with seven runs scored, two home runs, and 10 RBI.  He has also climbed into the top 15 all-time home run hitters at Fordham with 19 career home runs, just one shy of former teammate Daniel Bucciero, who is 13th with 20.
  • Taylor Kirk and Tommy Markey have been the catalysts at the top and bottom of the order in the last five games, as both are hitting .368 in that stretch and combining for 14 runs scored, 11 RBI, and nine stolen bases.
  • Following a hot start to the season, Anthony Grabau was named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List, which honors the top shortstop in the country.Through the first 15 games of 2026, he leads the Rams in batting average (.388), runs scored (15), and hits (19).
  • While Grabau is at the forefront of the offense, Beau Elson has earned the top spot in the Rams' rotation, going 2-1 in four starts with a 3.97 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 22.2 innings of work.
  • Freshmen Andrew Kapica and Declan Cawley have also put up strong numbers in their first season on the mound.  Kapica is 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA and 15 strikeouts in six relief appearances, while Cawley has a 2.61 ERA, nine strikeouts and a save in five appearances.
  • Aric Berg has been a shutdown closer for Fordham with three saves in five appearances, recording eight strikeouts and a 3.00 ERA.
OPPONENT OUTLOOK
  • Davidson is 8-7 on the season and have won four in a row entering the weekend, posting three wins over Lehigh last weekend with a mid-week win over Gardner-Webb.
  • The Wildcats have hit well over the first quarter of the season, batting .318 as a team.
  • Forrest Lietz has been on fire, batting .510 with 11 runs scored and 17 RBI, while Matt Manjooran is hitting .379 with five doubles and a team-best 20 RBI.
  • Ed Hall, who is scheduled to pitch on Sunday, has been solid on the mound, going 1-1 in four appearances with a 3.60 ERA and 23 strikeouts.

  • Following this weekend, the Rams are scheduled to start a nine-game homestand on Wednesday, March 18th, with a mid-week match-up against Marist, beginning at 3:00 PM.Fordham then welcomes Richmond for an Atlantic 10 series on the weekend (March 20-22).
