Bronx, N.Y. – (September 14, 2025) – Behind a two-goal performance from
Liina Tervo, the Fordham women's soccer team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the Yale Bulldogs, 3-2, on Senior Day at Moglia Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The win improved Fordham's record to 5-2-1 overall.
THE GAME
- Fordham grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute, when Liina Tervo took a lead pass from Renata Mercedes and scored her fifth goal of the season into the left side of the net.
- The Bulldogs evened the match on a goal from Ani Thorvaldsdottir in the 68th minute, assisted by Logan Jacobs.
- Yale then broke the tie on a scramble in the box. Reagen Exley and Fordham goalkeeper Kyla King made contact in the box with Exley fanning on a shot, but knocked the ball back to Addison Bray for the empty net goal in the 76th minute.
- The Rams leveled the game at two just four minutes later.Mercedes headed down a ball to Ava Giudice, who struck a shot from 25 yards out to the top right corner of the goal for her fourth marker of the season.
- Fordham then went back ahead, 3-2, in the 88th minute. Annie Maguire was taken down in the box for a foul and awarded a penalty kick to the Rams. Tervo stepped to the spot and converted the penalty for her second goal of the match.
GAME NOTES
- Kyla King recorded two saves for the Rams in goal, improving to 4-1-0 on the year.
- This was Tervo's second multi-goal game of the season and third of her career.
- Mercedes recorded multiple assists in a game for the first time.
