Bronx, N.Y. – Since we're a few days into the 2025 Fordham football camp it's time to start our position-by-position breakdown of the Rams, starting with the quarterbacks.
There will be a competition for the starting spot at quarterback this year, led by senior
Jack Capaldi and sophomore
Tripp Holley, who both started games for the Rams last year, along with junior transfer
Gunnar Smith.
Capaldi appeared in eleven games as a junior, starting nine. He completed 124 of 250 passes for 1,573 yards and eight touchdowns and ran for 154 net yards and two scores.
Holley saw action in three games as a freshman, starting two. He completed 14 of 27 passes for 108 yards and rushed 20 times with one touchdown.
Smith is a transfer from Highland Community College where he completed 172 of 336 passes for 2,455 yards and 19 touchdowns last year. The Lake Mary, Florida native, completed 65.5 percent of passes for 2,180 yards and 22 TDs with nine interceptions for a 10-2 Lake Mary High School team as senior in 2021, setting Seminole County records in passing yards and touchdowns. He was named to the All-Seminole Athletic Conference team.
Also back for the Rams is sophomore
Thomas Rosso, who did not see action for the Rams last year, while the lone rookie in the quarterbacks room is freshman
Matt Ivaldi, a Miami native who played at Myrtle Beach Collegiate last fall.
