Bronx, N.Y. – On a hot and humid Moglia Stadium field, the 2025 Fordham football team opened its fall camp on Wednesday with energy and excitement as eighth-year head coach
Joe Conlin ran the Rams through their first workout.
Conlin guided the troops through an almost two-hour workout as they prepare for the 2025 season opener on August 30 when Fordham travels to Boston College for a 2:00 p.m. contest. Join your fellow Ram fans in a
pregame reception prior to the game.
Some notes from today's practice:
• The Rams practiced with helmets only and will add spiders for Thursday and Friday. On Saturday the players will don shoulder pads with the first days of full pads slated for Sunday.
• After missing all but four games last year, the Rams welcomed back grad student linebacker
James Conway, who set the school and Patriot League career tackles mark last year. He was named Stats Performer First Team Preseason All-American as well as to the
Buck Buchanan Watch List.
• Conway was also named
Preseason All-Patriot League along with grad student punter
Will Haslett, and senior defensive back
Alex Kemper.
• The big question for the Rams in camp is to find a starting quarterback. Senior
Jack Capaldi and sophomore
Tripp Holley, who both started games last year, return and are joined by junior transfer
Gunnar Smith.
• Whoever the quarterback is they will have a new starter at running back with the graduation of
Julius Loughridge, a two-time 1,000-yard rusher. Senior
Ricky Parks, who rushed for 240 yards last year, is the leading contender.
• The Rams will also feature a new group of receivers as the top three pass catchers from last year are gone. The leading returning receiver is junior
Ricky Gonzalez II, who caught 20 passes last year for 244 yards, and junior
KJ Reed, who hauled in 16 passes for 156 yards.
• The offensive line also took a hit from graduation with three of the five starters gone. Senior
Duke Leonard and junior
Owen Duetsch are back as are senior
Dylan Haines and
Colin Van Rooy, who each started games last year.
• Conway, senior defensive lineman
Claudy Robinson, and Gonzalez joined Conlin at Patriot League Media Day last week.
Check out what they had to say.
• A few veterans changed uniform numbers with Parks switching from 9 to 6, tight end
Matt Buron moving from 85 to 1, tight end
Dallas Reece switching from 47 to 89, and wide receiver
Michael Doctor swapping 38 for 16.
• There were many new faces at Moglia Stadium today with over 25 freshmen Rams taking part in their first practice.
• Former Ram Nick Zakelj is currently at his fourth training camp with the San Francisco 49ers.
• Two other former Rams are also with NFL teams: Brandon Brown, who played for the Rams from 2006-09, is in his third season as the New York Giants' assistant general manager, and Mick Lombardi, who was a student assistant at Fordham, is the quarterbacks coach with the San Francisco 49ers.
• Season tickets, flex plans, and single game tickets for the 2025 home season are now on sale through the
Fordham Athletic Ticket Office.
