Box Score Davidson, N.C. – The Fordham women's tennis squad continued its southern trip on Saturday, defeating Davidson College, 4-3, at the Davidson Tennis Courts.
Fordham opened the match dropping the doubles point as Davidson won two of the three doubles matches. Fordham's
Lorraine Bergmann and
Lily Chitambar started things off on the right foot for the Rams, taking second doubles from Davidson's Bryson Langford and Savanna Kollock, 6-2. Davidson's 1. Kailey Patel and Daniela Porges defeated
Julianne Nguyen and
Nevena Kolarevic, 6-3, at first singles so the doubles point came down to third doubles which went to a tiebreaker as Davidson's Ellie Hammond and Charlotte Calderwood squeaked by Fordham's
Sofie Siem and
Paola Ueno Dalmonico, 7-6, winning the tiebreaker 8-6.
Kolarevic tied the match at one for the Rams with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Porges at second singles and
Paola Ueno Dalmonico upended Langford at fourth singles in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, to put Fordham up 2-1.
After Patel retied the match at two with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Nguyen at first singles, Bergmann took third singles from Kollock, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(6), and Catalina Padilla Urdaneta gave Fordham the win with a victory over Ines Roti at the sixth position, 6-3, 6-3.
