Amherst, Mass. – (February 1, 2025) – The Fordham swimming & diving team had their final dual meet of the season on Saturday, as the Rams headed up to Amherst, Massachusetts for a dual meet with UMass.
UMass got the better of the Rams, as they edged out the women, 151.5-148.5, and the men, 177.5-119.5.
On the women's side, Fordham won 10 events on the day, led by
Ainhoa Martin, who won three events on the day. She took first in the 200 freestyle (1:54.38), 200 breaststroke (2:18.05), and 200 individual medley (2:06.98). She was also a part of the winning 400 freestyle relay team with
Jessica Zebrowski,
Hope Nolan, and
Emma Shaughnessy, which clocked in at 3:33.90.
Zebrowski would also win multiple events, taking the top spot in the 50 (24.41) and 100 (52.64) freestyle events, while Shaughnessy won the 100 individually medley (1:00.34).
Leire Martin swept the backstroke events, taking first in 57.79 seconds (100) and 2:02.39 (200), with
Mya Bokerman winning the one-meter dive with a score of 250.80.
On the men's side, the Rams won six events on the day, headed up by
Daniel Ribeiro winning both the 100 backstroke (50.72) and the 100 individual medley (51.84).
David Topi,
Christian Taylor,
Ryan Hong, and
Noah Althoff each won one event. Topi grabbed first in the 100 breaststroke at 57.31 seconds, while Taylor won the 200 backstroke in 1:52.20. Hong took the top spot in the 200 breaststroke in 2:08.35 with Althoff finished first in the 200 individual medley in 1:57.06.
The Rams now set their sights on the 2025 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championship to be held February 19-22 at the Hampton Virginia Aquaplex in Hampton, Virginia.
