BRONX, N.Y. – Off to a 3-1-1 start against a challenging stretch of opponents, the Fordham men's soccer team checked in at no. 18 in the United Soccer Coaches poll released on Tuesday afternoon.
The Rams' ranking is the highest for the program since placing in 12th in the third week of the 2018 season.Â
Fordham earned its ranking on the heels of a convincing 4-0 home win over reigning WCC Co-Champion Santa Clara on Thursday night in the Bronx. Junior captain Daniel D'Ippolito became the 19th player in Fordham history to record a hat trick, finding the back of the net in the seventh, 23rd and 69th minute against the Broncos.
Last night in Philadelphia, the Rams suffered a setback at the hands of now-No. 15 Penn, who broke a 1-1 deadlock in the 72nd minute after a missed handball led to a Quakers goal.Â
The Rams opened the season with a ranked result, playing then-No. 17 Hofstra to a scoreless draw in Hempstead.
Fordham has now been ranked for at least one week in four of the last five seasons.
The Rams will return to action on Friday night when they travel to Poughkeepsie for a contest with Marist. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
