BRONX, N.Y. -  The Fordham University Rams open the 2024 season, Fordham's 124th varsity season, by traveling to Bowling Green, Ohio, to face the Bowling Green State University Falcons at Doyt Perry Stadium on Thursday, August 29, at 7:00 p.m.

The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Joey Lindstrom (p-b-p) and Ryan Cavanaugh (analyst) announcing and broadcast live on WFUV (90.7 FM) and wfuvsports.org with Lou Orlando (p-b-p) and Evan Harkin (analyst) handling the announcing chores.

Fordham enters the season after going 6-5 overall last year, 2-4 in the Patriot League, while Bowling Green enters the 2024 season after going 7-6 overall last fall, 5-3 in the MAC, and capped the season with a loss to Minnesota in the Quick Lane Bowl.

This will be the first meeting between Fordham and Bowling Green on the gridiron.

A few notes on the game:

• This is the third straight season with a game against a MAC opponent (Rams played at Ohio in 2022 and at Buffalo last fall).

• Fordham is 2-4 all-time against schools currently in the MAC (2-2 vs. Buffalo, 0-1 vs. Ball State, and 0-1 vs. Ohio).

• It will be the fifth different MAC school that the Rams have played (Akron, Ball State, Buffalo, and Ohio).

• The Fordham Rams have thrown the second most touchdown passes of any NCAA FCS school over the past three years.

• The Rams threw a school-record 58 scoring strikes in 2022 (56 of those from Tim DeMorat who set a school and Patriot League record) and had 26 from quarterback CJ Montes last year for a total of 84.

• Fordham senior linebacker James Conway has 386 total tackles, third on the Fordham career list.

• Fordham senior linebacker James Conway, senior defensive lineman Matt Jaworski, and junior quarterback CJ Montes were named 2024 Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America Team.

• Fordham will be represented by six captains in 2024: senior defensive lineman Matt Jaworski, grad student wide receiver Mekai Felton, grad student offensive linemen Ryan Joyce (who is serving as a captain for the second straight year), grad student defensive back Nahil Perkins, and grad student linebacker Mike Courtney.

• Two former Fordham football Rams are currently on NFL rosters. Running back Chase Edmonds, who was drafted in the fourth round by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2018 draft, is a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but will miss the 2024 season due to injury while offensive lineman Nick Zakelj, who was selected in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft by the San Francisco and enters his third year with the 49ers.

• No New York area college football team has won more games since 2012 than Fordham, who has amassed 79 victories over that stretch. The closest collegiate competitors are Sacred Heart (69), Stony Brook (58), and Rutgers (54), while the NFL's Giants lead all NYC area professional teams with 76 wins over the past 12 years and the Jets have 69.
