Water Polo’s Toth Wins U18 World Championship for Hungary

Incoming Freshman Scores Twice in Championship Match against Serbia

Buenos Aires, Argentina – (July 10, 2024) – Incoming Fordham water polo player Andras Toth added another accolade to an already stacked international resume, as he and the rest of the Hungarian Youth National Team won the 2024 Men's U18 World Championship held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Hungary defeated Serbia, 12-10, in the championship match on July 9th with Toth posting two goals and two assists in the gold medal winning performance.  Toth finished as Hungary's leading "action" goal scorer in the tournament, which are all goals not coming from five-meter penalty shots.

With the Hungarin Youth National Team, Toth has earned three gold medals in major international championships, having previously won the 2021 U15 European Championship and the 2022 U16 World Championship, where he netted the game-winning goal of the gold medal match against Greece and finished as the tournament's leading scorer.
