BRONX, N.Y. - Second-year Fordham women's basketball head coach Bridgette Mitchell has announced the hiring of Janet Butler as an assistant coach for the 2024-25 season.
Butler arrives on Rose Hill after spending the last four seasons on the Women's Basketball program at Tulane, most recently as an assistant coach for the Green Wave in 2023-24.
"Janet comes to us with a wealth of experience and she embodies all of the qualities of a proven winner," said Coach Mitchell of Butler. "Her love for the game and passion for our vision here at Fordham is undeniable. There is no doubt that Janet's experience and tireless work ethic will inspire our athletes and help us compete for championships."
Prior to her promotion last season, Butler spent her first three years with the Green Wave (2020-23) asAssistant Director for Student-Athlete Development and Video. In her four years, Butler helped Tulane earn three postseason berths (2021, 2022, 2023 WNIT).

The Eros, La. native played collegiately at Louisiana College (2007-11), where she was a two-time co-captain (2010-11) of teams that earned American Southwest Conference regular season championships, Division III National Tournament appearances, and spots in the DIII Top 25 polls.
"I am incredibly honored to be joining Coach B and her staff at Fordham," said Butler. "Coach B's energy and clear vision for the women's basketball program is something I am eager to be a part of. I am so grateful for this opportunity to represent the Ramily, and I cannot wait to get to work!"
In her first season at the helm of the Fordham program in 2023-24, Coach Mitchell led the Rams to the most wins by a first-year Fordham women's basketball coach since 1993-94.
