Gallery: (4-5-2024) Women's Tennis vs. Richmond
Bronx, N.Y. – After a perfect 4-0 spring break trip to Texas and Louisiana, the Fordham University women's tennis team returned to the Bronx and continued its winning ways, defeating the University of Richmond, 4-1, at the Cary Leeds Tennis Center. It was the Rams' seventh straight win.
Fordham opened the match by taking the doubles point, winning two of the three doubles matches. After Richmond won second doubles by retirement,
Julianne Nguyen and
Franny Shea took third doubles from Richmond's Carly Cohen and Lainey O'Neil, 6-3, and then
Raffaela Alhach and
Anlin Xie teamed up to win at first doubles over Andrea Campodonico and Claire Le Du, 6-3.
The Rams then took three of the four completed singles matches for the 4-1 win. Alhach got things started with a 6-1, 6-3, decision over Campodonico at first singles, 6-1, 6-3.
After Richmond made it a 2-1 march with a win at fifth singles, Xie defeated Leonor Oliveira at the third position, 7-6(5), 6-3, and
Xintong Zhou followed with a 6-2, 7-5, victory at fourth singles to clinch the match for Fordham.
