Spartansburg, S.C. – (February 29, 2024) – The Fordham baseball team is back on the road this weekend with its first three-game series against a single opponent, as the Rams are in Spartansburg, South Carolina against the Wofford Terriers.
Fordham (2-5) heads into the series following a 13-8 win over Saint Peter's on Wednesday. The Rams used an eight-run seventh inning to stamp out the Peacocks for the team's second win of the season. Wofford (6-2) saw a three-game win streak snapped on Tuesday with a 3-2 loss at Charlotte.

SERIES HISTORY: Fordham and Wofford have met eight times previously with each squad earning four victories. In 2002, Wofford earned two wins in a three-game series, wile Fordam returned the favor in 2009. Wofford then won in 2014 with the most recent meeting in 2018 going to the Rams by a 2-1 score.
OPPONENT OUTLOOK: Wofford has come out of the gates swinging in 2024, batting .362 through eight games and averaging 11 runs per contest. The Terriers boast six players with at least eight RBI, led by Jack Renwick and Brice Martine with nine apiece. Marshall Toole is the table-setter, scoring 14 runs in eight games to go with a .469 batting average and 11 stolen bases. Of the projected weekend pitchers, Zac Cowen has a team-best 14 strikeouts in 10.2 innings of work, while Braden Hofmeyer has a 0.75 ERA in three starts.

Tommy McAndrews knocked out a pair of doubles and scored three runs to lead the Rams to a 13-8 win over Saint Peter's. Fordham fell behind 3-0 before scoring three times in the second inning to tie the game.
The Rams then snagged a 5-3 lead in the third, as
Andrew Kanellis and McAndrews scored on a dropped fly ball in center. After the Peacocks made it a 5-4 game in the fifth, Fordham answered with an eight-run seventh inning to blow the game open. The Rams loaded the bases with one out and scored single runs on a walk to Brueser and a single by
Madden Ocko. Following a pitching change, another run came home on a ground out by
Chris Genaro, making it, 8-4. Fordham then re-loaded the bases and picked up a two-run single by
Henry Pelinski, an RBI-single by
Daniel Bucciero, and a two-run double from McAndrews for the 13-4 advantage.
Saint Peter's did score four runs in the eighth to pull within, 13-8, but
Koen Smith was able to get the final four outs of the game to secure the Rams' win. For Fordham,
Andres Perez (1-0) earned his first collegiate win, allowing one run on two hits in three innings of relief to go with two strikeouts. At the plate, McAndrews was 2-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored, and two RBI, while Brueser and Pelinski each drove in two runs.
