Bronx, N.Y. – (February 27, 2024) – After having its first six games on the road, the Fordham baseball team will have its home opener on Wednesday afternoon at Houlihan Park, when the Rams host Saint Peter's at 3:00 PM.
 
Last weekend, Fordham (1-5) picked up its first win of the season against Army West Point on Friday, while falling to Maine and Stetson in a round robin weekend in Deland, Florida.  Saint Peter's enters Wednesday's game after winning two of three games against Coppin State over the weekend.

SERIES HISTORY: Fordham and Saint Peter's have played against each other in baseball, dating back to the 19
th century.  Since 1899, Fordham is 45-9 against the Peacocks, winning the last six meetings.  Last season, Fordham posted an 11-0 win over Saint Peter's, as five Ram pitchers combined for a two-hit shutout.  
Dominic Cunha threw four shutout innings for the win in that contest.  The Peacocks' last victory in the series came in 2016.
 
OPPONENT OUTLOOK: Saint Peter's is 2-5 in the early portion of the season, batting .257 as a team.  A large portion of their offense has come from Tyler Cotton.  In seven games, he is hitting .520 with nine runs scored, four doubles, five home runs, and 13 RBI.

Connor Haywood, and sophomore 
Tommy McAndrews.
 
POWER BATS: The 2023 season saw the return of the long ball back to the Fordham lineup.  The team hit 56 home runs, which was the second-most in team history, behind only the school record of 83 in 1997.  The power surge has continued into 2024, as Fordham already has four home runs on the year with 
Steve Luttazi having two and 
Andrew Kanellis and 
Nico Boza with one each.
 
HELLO, MY NAME IS…: After welcoming 17 new players in 2023, Fordham has 18 fresh faces on the roster in 2024, which includes five graduate transfers, a senior transfer, a junior, a sophomore transfer, and ten freshmen.
 
WHO'S NEXT: The Rams will next be in action this weekend at Wofford in Spartansburg, S.C. for a three-game series, March 1-3.
