Hampton, Va. – (February 24, 2024) – After four days of competition, the 2024 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championship ended on Saturday night at the Hampton Aquaplex in Hampton, Virginia, with the Fordham men finishing sixth out of eight teams.
George Washington won its fourth straight men's championship with 844 points, followed by Massachusetts (455.5), St. Bonaventure (435), George Mason (422), Davidson (408.5), Fordham (386), La Salle (347), and Saint Louis (185).
The night of finals began with
Aiden Dane finishing 18
th in the 1650 freestyle in 16:07.24, while
Frankie Sanger was 17
th in the 200 backstroke in 1:50.64.
The Rams found the scoring column in the 100 freestyle as four swimmers made the finals.
Guy Gropper took the bronze medal with a school record time of 43.52 seconds in the championship final, followed by Alex Shah in sixth (44.30) and
Alex Wilhelm in eighth (44.92).
Christian Taylor was the last finalist, grabbing 12
th in the "B" final at 44.51 seconds.
Fordham then scored in the 200 breaststroke as well with two Rams in the finals.
Noah Althoff was eighth in the championship heat at 1:59.15, while
Daniel Langlois won the "B" final for ninth place in 2:00.63.
The last individual event was the 200 butterfly, where
Len Ray was 26
th overall in 1:54.68.
The championship closed out with the 400 freestyle relay, Shah, Taylor, Wilhelm, and Taylor, breaking both the standing Atlantic 10 and school record at 2:54.59. That time was good for a silver medal and Second Team All-League honors behind George Washington.
