South Orange, N.J. – The Fordham men's swimming & diving team opened the 2026-27 season on Saturday with a 201.5-97.5 loss to Seton Hall at the Arthur E. Imperatore Natatorium.
The Rams were led by sophomore
Quinn MacPhail who won both the 500 free (4:38.85) and the 1000 free (9:29.77).
Other top performers for Fordham include junior
Alex Ayers, who won the 200 free in 1:43.46, just 0.01 seconds ahead of the second place finisher; freshman
Michael van Heerden, who tied for second in 100 back (51.81) and took second in the 100 fly (50.72); sophomore
Max Maycher, who was second in the 50 free (21.22) and third in the 100 free (47.10); and sophomore
Richard Wang, who placed second in the 100 free (47.04), just 0.07 second behind the winner.
In relay action, the 200 medley relay of
Ben Ohrr,
David Topi,
Rohaan Babul, and Maycher won the race in a time of 1:32.80, just beating Seton Hall to the touchpad by 0.08 seconds while the 400 free relay of Maycher, van Heerden, Wang, and Babul placed second in 3:08.13.
The Rams return to action on Saturday, October 10, as they compete in the Rutgers Invitational.
