Hampton, Va. – (February 23, 2024) – Day three of the 2024 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championship wrapped up at the Hampton Aquaplex in Hampton, Virginia, and the Fordham men are in fourth place out of eight teams.
George Washington remains in first place for the third consecutive day with 612 points, followed by St. Bonaventure (328), Massachusetts (313.5), Fordham (287), George Mason (281), Davidson (267.5), La Salle (251), and Saint Louis (132).
The night of finals began with the 100 butterfly final, where
Guy Gropper and
Vitalis Onu qualified for the final. Gropper just missed the podium, finishing fourth in the championship race in an NCAA "B" cut time of 46.79 seconds. Onu scored 11
th in the "B" final, clocking in at 48.68 seconds.
The Rams did not have a finalist in the 400 individual medley, but did have two championship final qualifiers in the 200 freestyle event.
Wojciech Dutkowiak scored fourth with a school record time of 1:36.38, while
Alex Wilhelm was sixth in 1:37.94.
In the 100 breaststroke,
Noah Althoff scored seventh overall in a time of 48.65 seconds with
Daniel Langlois in 14
th at 55.64 seconds.
The last individual swimming event saw
Christian Taylor place fifth in 48.65 seconds.
In the final relay, the Rams scored a bronze medal in the 400 medley relay, as Taylor, Althoff, Gropper and Wilhelm posted a season-best time of 3:13.21.
The final day of the Atlantic 10 Championship on Saturday will feature the 100 and 1650 freestyle, the 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, and 400 freestyle relay. Preliminaries begin at 10:00 AM with the finals at 6:30 PM.
