BRONX, N.Y. – After leading the Fordham men's soccer team to its second NCAA Tournament appearance in the last five seasons, Head Coach
Carlo Acquista will be inducted into the Eastern New York State Soccer Association Hall of Fame.
Â
The ceremony will take place on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 12 p.m. at Vetro Restaurant and Lounge in Howard Beach.
Â
While his accomplishments as a collegiate coach are worthy of celebration, Acquista is being honored on Sunday for his work with ENYSSA. For the past decade and a half, Acquista has served as the ENYSSA's Director of Coaching, where he has re-established and grown the Coaching Education Program. Under his leadership, the program has become a nationwide leader, providing access to USSF Coaching Licenses to thousands within the soccer community. As a USSF Coach Educator, he has personally instructed over 1,000 coaching students at the grassroots and D levels, demonstrating his commitment to raising the standard of coaching and fostering the next generation of soccer mentors.
Â
This past fall, Acquista wrapped his sixth season at the helm of Fordham Men's Soccer by leading the program to its sixth all-time NCAA Tournament appearance. After advancing to the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Championship for the eighth time in the past 11 seasons, the Rams were one of four A-10 teams rewarded with a spot in the 48-team NCAA field. Fordham entered the NCAA Tournament with an RPI of 29 after going 8-5-5 against the nation's seventh toughest schedule. The Rams went 4-1-3 in the Atlantic 10 with their only loss coming at the hands of a UMass team that advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. Fordham also handed eventual conference champion Dayton its only loss of Atlantic 10 play before the Flyers earned the no. 5 national seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Â
In his six years leading the Rams, Acquista has mentored nine All-Atlantic 10 selections, including two major award winners in 2019 Defensive Player of the Year Joergen Oland and 2024 Midfielder of the Year
Daniel D'Ippolito. Additionally, two Rams have earned Academic All-American honors from CoSIDA/College Sports Communicators: Johannes Pieles in 2019 and
Timo Hummrich in 2023.
Â
At Fordham, Acquista boasts an overall record of 38-34-29 (.520), including a 20-11-14 (.600) mark in league play.Â
Â
Prior to arriving at Rose Hill in 2019, Acquista served as a scout for the New York Red Bulls, where he played a crucial role in roster construction for an organization that just finished as the runner-up for the MLS Cup.
Â
Before joining the Red Bulls, Acquista spent 11 seasons as the head coach at Adelphi, going 120-69-19 (.623) and winning four league championships. In 2016, Acquista led the Panthers to a 19-1-2 record and a spot in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Tournament.Â
Â
Acquista began his college head coaching career at the age of 23 when he was tapped to lead St. Francis Brooklyn for five seasons.
Â
A 2000 graduate of St. John's, Acquista won the 1996 national championship as a freshman and played a part in two BIG EAST titles during his tenure in Queens. He later earned a master's degree in sport management from Adelphi.Â

Acquista and his wife, Lauren, reside in Westbury, N.Y., and have three sons, Lucas and Christian (twins) and Leo.
